Wise - Attributes of God

1 Corinthians 1:20-25 says that God in His wisdom saw to it the world would never know Him through human wisdom. Wisdom of this world is foolish. Those called by God to salvation, Christ is the power of God and wisdom of God. Wisdom comes from looking to the cross and Jesus. It doesn't make sense to the world, but Jesus and the cross is the wisdom of God on display.

If you are in a situation that seems like you can't get through, look to the cross and ask the Lord for wisdom and He will give it freely. He doesn't rebuke your ask. (James 1:5). The wisdom that comes from above is manifested through Jesus, made available through the Holy Spirit, written in the Word, and delivered in a steady flow from God to you. It enables us as His children to lay a solid foundation for all life. God desires for all His people to come to the knowledge of Him and truth. (1 Timothy 2:4). Wisdom is not merely knowledge, but it is the application of knowledge. If there is anything that you got from this it should be - get to know God and you will be wise. For the fear of the Lord is wisdom (Proverbs 9:10).

Security is found in wisdom. Being prosperous through Christ is wisdom. You don't have to chase wisdom through education or act wise for it is foolish, but looking to God's Word is all wisdom (Proverbs 14:8). True wisdom comes from Him. Don't trust in your own insight, but walk in wisdom because it is safe (Proverbs 28:26). For the Word says, "Heaven is higher than the earth, His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9).

Jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. (James 3:13-18). This scripture rocked me a little because some of the things in my own life are driven by selfish ambition and that convicts me. The best blessing that God could ever give me is conviction because it keeps me on track with Him!

God's wisdom for me is fulfilling, satisfying, and not disorderly or chaotic. It isn't fake, it is whole. This is why I must stay near the Word of God. It carries all problem solving answers to life's problems. The people of Berea were more open-minded to Paul's teaching, and they listened eagerly. They searched the Scriptures day and night to see if Paul and Silas were teaching truth (Acts 17:11,12). I am going to challenge myself to carry my Word with me everywhere and search the Word for answers while I'm out in the world. I challenge you to do the same.

Joyful Home Welcomes You! :)
