Love
Whoa!
1 Corinthians 13:12 - For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. The 13th Chapter of 1 Corinthians is about love. The greatest gift is love and the greatest and first commandment is to love one another. God is love. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind' and 'your neighbor as yourself (Luke 10:27).
We are such a society that is self-motivated. "How can I take care of myself? Or, how can this be about me?" Satan has deceived us so much into thinking it's about ourselves that it explains why we don't know our spouses anymore, children and even our neighbors. We have lost that touch completely. We are blasted all the time with constant ads showing us that love is lustful, sexual, boastful, parading itself around like a prostitute. It isn't thinking about the other person and what they may be going through and genuinely caring how they are.
I have been struggling with wanting conversations to be about what I know and I have been begging God to strip me of this. The song - "Rid Me of Myself, I Belong to You" continues to come up in my spirit. That seems to be my battle cry lately. Where did love go? How did I get so cold shouldered and didn't care about people and their needs?
I remember when Natasha was in my life (a youth leader from youth group) and she was always one to stop and ask how you were/are doing and she would sit... still... and listen! I always admired her for that BUT it definitely made me uncomfortable to respond. I felt like I was under a microscope and then I'd fumble over my words because I didn't know how to respond with such intense listening skills. I always desired to be like that: stop, listen, and console.
The whole bible is about love. God is love so of course He is going to display that in His word through every single story that is written. In the beginning God created... is love. He sent His One and only Son... is love. Who died on the cross for our sins... is love. Who resurrected from death to life... is love. And finally, who is seated next to the Father and reconciled us to Himself... is love!
Are we so cold and immune to not feeling love because of culture, religion opinions (man, not God's) that we have forgotten what true love is? Yes! Look in a mirror and what do you see? Yourself? Or the image of God who is love?
Joyful Home Welcomes You! Come on in! Hi* :)
More to come on this topic that includes - face to face and Moses seeing God's glory. And of course, Genesis 1:27 - So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
I hope you'll be here for the next episode of God is Love!
